One of the most decorated running backs in Maine Maritime football history, Jim Bower played for the Mariners from 2006–10.
A two-time American Football Coaches Association First Team All-American in 2009 and 2010, Bower was also a two-time D3football.com Second Team All-American in 2009 and 2010. He earned the 2009 Boston Globe Gold Helmet Award and the 2009 Gridiron Club Joe Zabilski Award.
Bower was a two-time New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England selection in 2008 and 2009, the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Player of the Year and a 2010 NEFW Division II/III All-Star.
Additionally, he was a 2010 ECAC Division III North All-Star, a two-time conference player of the year in 2009 and 2010, a three-time all-conference first-team selection and the 2009 conference championship most valuable player. Bower also led the nation in rushing in 2009.
At the time of his induction, Bower ranked second all-time in program history with 6,060 career rushing yards, third with 963 attempts, first with 77 career rushing touchdowns, eighth in yards per carry (6.29) and fifth in yards per game (134.7).
Bower was the leading rusher on the Mariners' 2009 New England Football Conference championship team, which finished 9-2, defeated Curry College 48-42 in the conference title game and advanced to the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs.
He also held program single-season records at the time of his induction with 1,916 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns.
Bower earned a Bachelor of Science in power engineering technology from Maine Maritime in 2010.
A native of South Paris, Maine, Bower attended Oxford Hills High School.
