Maine Maritime Academy

Brown, a 1982 team captain and four-year starter at safety, was a 3-time NEFC All-Conference selection. Brown garnered AP All-New England Second team honors in his sophomore and senior seasons, ECAC Division III All-New England honors in his final season, Boston Herald All-New England honors in his sophomore year. Brown was a two-time NAIA All-District selection, and NAIA All-American Honorable mention during his sophomore season.

During his time at MMA he received the Boston Globe Golden Helmet Award, and was ranked 3^rd nationally in DIII punt returns. Brown ranks third all-time with punt returns in a season (216) and average punt return yards (15.43). In 1982 he led the team in punt returns (14), and in 1980 he led the team with six interceptions. He ties for first all-time with four interceptions in a game.
