Fauvell excelled in both football and wrestling. In football he received All-New England and All-American honors as a defensive tackle. As a wrestler, he won NAIA championships in the 190 lb. in 1973 and the unlimited class in 1974, and won the 1973 Maine Open championship in the unlimited class.
