The Faculty Athletic Mentor (FAM) program allows Maine Maritime Academy student-athletes and faculty alike the opportunity to foster mutual respect and grow understanding through the provision of opportunities to share experiences in a non-traditional setting.
A sport's designated FAM will strive to:
- Offer support to our student-athletes’ success in the classroom and on their field/court/ course
- Act as a “bridge” between Athletics and Academics, working with a coach and your co-workers to increase understanding of the value of athletics
- Be a fan and enthusiast who will promote Mariners student-athletes and Athletics
- Provide academic leadership to athletes
- Work with the coach of your team to determine a working relationship that fits into your already demanding schedule
