BANGOR, Maine--In its next-to-last meet prior to the Little East Conference championships in February, the Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming and diving team were dealt a 195-100 loss by host Husson University at Webber Pool on Saturday.
The Eagles even the dual-meet series as MMA was victorious, 116-105, back on Nov. 21 in Castine.
JuniorÂ
Rayelle Brewer led the Mariners with a pair of wins in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.56 seconds and 1650-free in 20 minutes and 36.87 seconds. Brewer also was second in the 100-butterfly with a clocking of 1:12.87, and helped the 200-free relay to runner-up in 1:55.94 as the anchor leg.
SeniorÂ
Natasha Kopeck also found the win column in the 100-free in 1:01.72. In addition, Kopeck earned couple runner-up finishes in two 1-meter diving events: 138.60 and 186.90. She also swam the first leg to second place in the 200-medley relay in 2:07.82.
Another highlight was freshman
Jane Marvin having one of her best performances as a Mariner in the 200-breaststroke (3:01.25) and 100-breast (1:21.79)--both second place showings.
Maine Maritime will conclude the month of January on Friday (6 p.m.) when the Mariners travel to Lewiston to compete at Bates College.
