John Hassett (Castine, Maine), and sophomore
Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) claimed the top three spots in the Bowdoin Invite 2 on Saturday to lead the Maine Maritime Academy men's cross country team to their third team win of the season.
How it Happened: Butterfield finished first in the 17-runner field, with a time of 27:32.7 on the 8k course. Hassett finished just seconds behind Butterfield in second place, with a time of 27:35.6, while Saltysiak finished in third, with a time of 27:39.9.
Sophomore
Shail Leszkowicz (Marlton, N.J.) finished in 11th, with a time of 31:23.9 and senior
Tanner Morrison (Freeport, Maine) rounded out the top five finishers for the Mariners, finishing 14th, with a time of 34:03.4.
Inside the Numbers: The Mariners claimed the top spot with a team score of 25 and a total time of 2:28:15, while Bowdoin College finished second with a team score of 30 and a total time of 2:27:38. The first-place finish for Butterfield was his second of the season.
Up Next: The Mariners return to action on Saturday, October 29 when they travel to Canton, N.Y. to race in the North Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted by SUNY Canton, at 10:00am.
