ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's wrestling team turned in a strong effort at the Muhlenberg Novice Women's Tournament on Saturday at Muhlenberg College.
Freshman
Mary Smith paced the Mariners with a dominant 3-0 performance, earning all three victories by fall to claim first-place honors in her bracket.
Junior
Isa Thesing also delivered a notable showing, finishing third overall with a 2-2 record. After dropping her opening match, Thesing responded with a pin in round two and added another first-period fall in round five to secure a podium finish.
Freshman
Kelly Malcolm and sophomore
Kylie Coxon each finished 0-3 on the day, while senior Piper Baumgartner also competed and closed out the tournament 0-3.
The Mariners return to Pennsylvania next Saturday for the Gold Wolves Alvernia Open, hosted by Alvernia University.
