BIDDEFORD, Maine--The Maine Maritime Academy men's and women's swimming programs traveled to the campus of University of New England on Saturday, when the former set two UNE Campus Center Pool records while the latter lost to the host Nor'Easters, 202-59. (UNE does not sponsor men's swimming so there was no team score, but MMA's times counted.)
Senior
Carson Trout established a facility benchmark in the 100-yard butterfly with a clocking of 54.23 seconds. In addition, the Maine Maritime men's 200-free relay consisting Trout, sophomore
John Driscoll, junior James Creegan and senior
Ryan Maher has a top-ever Campus Center Pool time of 1 minute and 33.15 seconds.
On the women's side, sophomore
Claire MacDonald picked up a victory in the 100-fly in 1:09.69. In addition, MacDonald helped the 200-free "A" relay to second place (1:54.27) as the third leg. She was joined by seniorÂ
Natasha Kopeck, freshmanÂ
Katherine Griffin and juniorÂ
Rayelle Brewer. Kopeck (50-free, 28.66) and Brewer (50-fly, 31.32) also turned in runner-up finishes.
