Men's Swimming Swims Past Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming picked up a 93-84 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday at the Knight Natatorium.

Ryan Burke (Lyman, Maine) took first in the 100 yard freestyle (58.40), while Joshua Roberts (Saco, Maine) claimed first in the 100 yard backstroke (59.96) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:16.97).

Brad Tibbetts (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) and Matthew Link (Sparta, N.J.) led the Mariners in the 50 yard breaststroke, finishing in first and second respectively. 

Patrick McEneaney (Suffolk, Va.) took first in the 500 yard freestyle (5:51.18). 

The women's team fell to Colby-Sawyer 152-59 and Smith College 200-51 in a double-dual meet.

Kaitlyn Reny (Lewiston, Maine) took third in the 500 yard freestyle event (6:20.49) and led the relay group including Kristen Gier (Cary, Ill.), Julie Cavanaugh (Mendon, Mass.) and Audrey Aragon (Miami, Fla.) to second in the 200 yard freestyle relay (2:02.05).

That same relay team placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay (2:18.06), while Aragon finished second in the 200 yard individual medley (2:46.41). Avery Nelson (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) took fourth in the 50 yard breaststroke (47.40). 

The Mariners return to action at the two-day Maine State Meet hosted by Bowdoin College beginning on Friday, November 30.
