Series History: The Seahawks hold a 9-0 all-time record over the Mariners, including a 4-0 record when playing in Castine, in a rivalry that dates back to 1996.
Last Meeting: James Ferrar led Maine Maritime Academy with 101 rushing yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns as the Mariners fell to Salve Regina University last season.
The Seahawks scored on their opening possession, putting together an 8-play 64-yard drive, resulting in a Sam Pascale 2-yard touchdown run. Andrew Verre's extra point was good, putting Salve Regina up 7-0.
Both teams went three-and-out on their next drives, before the Mariners orchestrated a 10-play 85-yard drive, capped off with a 5-yard touchdown run by Ferrar, and a Chad Martin extra point, to tie things up at 7-7.
Salve Regina responded with 21 points in both the second and third quarters to take a 49-7 lead into the fourth. Jeddy Doyon recovered a fumble to give the Mariners excellent field position at the Seahawk's 12-yard line. Ferrar added his second touchdown of the day, this time a one-yard run, followed by another Martin extra point to close the deficit to 49-14 in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Michael Fahey accounted for 79 of the Mariners' 258 rushing yards, on 19 carries, and Jacob Doolan added 63 yards on nine carries, including a long run of 28 yards.
Brandan Basil led the Seahawks offensively with 239 passing yards on 20 completions, and three touchdowns. Sam Pascale led the rushing attack with 120 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns, while Mitch Graziano tallied 71 yards on six catches and a touchdown.
Defensively Cody Chapman led the Mariners with nine tackles (5 solo), including two tackles for a loss. Justin Lovely and Zachary Faskianos added eight tackles each, and Faskianos added 2.5 tackles for a loss and a sack.
Nathan Gonzalez and Danny Ives led the Seahawks with six tackles each.
Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy football fell to Nichols College last Saturday afternoon, 54-28 in New England Football Conference action on Ritchie Field.
The Mariners combined for 389 yards of total offense. Quarterback Corey Creeger led the Mariners with 173 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while defensively John Bennett and Trenton J. Bouchard led the Mariners with seven tackles each. Bennett also added two interceptions for six yards and a broken up pass, while Bouchard added two broken up passes.
Salve Regina University's Last Game: Salve Regina fell to Western New England 41-22 last week to clinch the NEFC Championship.
In a repeat of last season's championship game, the Golden Bears raced out to a 21-0 lead only for the Seahawks to fight their way back. Chris Rosati returned a blocked punt for a touchdown then Connor Sullivan scored on a 39 yard catch and run to make the score 21-19 with 8:01 left in the third quarter. Despite a failed two-point conversion the Seahawks still had plenty of momentum in the game.
The Golden Bears responded with a nine-play, 75 yard scoring drive, quieting the crowd with two key third down conversions. Dante Aiken rushed 30 yards for the touchdown to make it 27-19 and although the Seahawks had more chances remaining in the game, that drive was pivotal in giving the Golden Bears back control and momentum when it seemed the Seahawks were starting to roll.
The Mariners: Corey Creeger leads the Mariners with 769 passing yards on 36 completions, and six touchdowns. Jordan Susi leads the team with 410 yards, on 16 catches and five touchdowns. James Ferrar leads the rushing attack with 695 total rushing yards on 141 carries and three touchdowns. Creeger leads the team with 15 rushing touchdowns.
Defensively, Cody Chapman leads the team with 66 tackles (35 solo), including 13 tackles for a loss, three broken up passes, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Christopher Ford leads the team with two sacks totaling 12 yards, and John Bennett leads the team with four interceptions.
The Mariners average 372.6yards per game including 266.9 rushing yards per game and 105.8 passing yards per game and 27.6 points per game. Maine Maritime is allowing opponents to score an average of 39.4 points per game.
The Seahawks: Brandan Basil leads Salve's passing attack with 1,663 yards on 107 completions and 16 touchdowns. Connor Sullivan leads all receivers with 23 receptions totaling 282 yards and three touchowns, including a long-catch of 43 yards. Sam Pascale leads the rushing attack with 1,197 yards on 162 carries and14 touchdowns, including a long run of 78 yards.
Defensively, Ethan Gambale leads the team with 53 tackles (41 solo), 8.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception and a pass breakups. John Salute leads the team with four sacks, while Francisco Hardacker leads the team with three interceptions.
Salve Regina averages 476.6 yards per game, 267.3 rushing yards, 209.4 passing yards and 41.6 points per game. The Seahawks allow opponents to score an average of 17.9 points per game.
NEFC Rankings: Corey Creeger leads the NEFC in scoring, averaging 12 points per game this season and rushing touchdowns with 15. He also ranks first in the NEFC in total points scored with 90 points and total touchdowns with 15. Jordan Susi ranks first in the conference in yards per reception (25.63).

NCAA Rankings: Jacob Doolan ranks second in the nation among Division III players with 8.80 yards per carry.
Corey Creeger ranks seventh in scoring, among DIII players with 12.0 points per game, while teammate Jordan Susi ranks fifth in the nation with 25.63 yards per reception.
Spencer Baron is on of only eight players in the Division III this season to return a punt for a touchdown.
