Cameron Roy (Orrington, Maine) finished in 56th place in the field of 87 runners to lead Maine Maritime Academy at the Bowdoin Invitational. The Polar Bear men dominated a six-team field, placing the top six individual runners to earn the victory. Half of the field was nationally ranked.
Roy posted a 29:38.64, finishing approximately 3:41 off of the championship pace. Bowdoin's Matthew Hillard (25:57.78) won the men's race in a sprint to the finish with teammate Nicholas Saba (25:58.51). James Boeding (26:05.60), Colin Ogilvie (26:08.64), Coby Horowitz (26:09.33) and Samuel Seekins (26:09.88) rounded out the top six finishers - all Polar Bears.
Bowdoin finished with 15 total team points ahead of MIT (67), Westfield State (74), Babson (108), Fitchburg State (117) and Maine Maritime (181). Colby-Sawyer did not field enough runners to score.
Jurgen Pilot (Bangor, Maine) and Wyatt LaPage (Portsmouth, N.H.) crossed 67th and 68th, respectively. Pilot ran a 30.55.05, while LaPage raced a 30:57.63. Foster Blake (Gorham, Maine) and Noel Deserres-Gauthier (Dover, N.H.) finished in 71st and 72nd places. Foster logged a 31:30.09, while Deserres-Gauthier clocked a 31:42.13 to round out the Mariners' top five.
The Mariners return to action in two weeks at the State of Maine Invitational at Pineland Farms.
