CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse team scored early and often in a 20-4 home victory over the University of Southern Maine on Monday evening.
Maine Maritime (3-3) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard over Southern Maine (2-3) scoring at the 12:34 mark of the opening quarter, freshman
Calvin Johnson found freshman
Connor Harvey for the opening goal enroute to an nine-goal opening quarter and a 9-1 advantage.
The Mariners outscored the Huskies 4-1 in the second quarter and controlled a 13-2 advantage at the half.
Over the final 30 minutes, MMA posted a 7-2 scoring advantage to come away with the 20-4 decision.

Ryan Parent finished with five goals, while sophomore
Tobey Lappin added four goals and senior
Trey Marcil added three goals and six assists. Both Parent and Lappin each added two assists.

Ryker Spear all scored for the Mariners.
Crowell finished 19-23 on faceoffs with 16 ground balls, while junior
Matthew Villeneuve scooped up seven ground balls and Lappin added six.

Mitch May finished 3-5 on faceoffs, while junior
Finn O'Donnell, Villeneuve and junior
John Martin each tallied three caused turnovers.

The Mariners return to action on Wednesday when they host Saint Joseph's College of Maine beginning at 5 p.m.
