CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team swept Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday in its home opener, winning 3-0, 3-0.
Maine Maritime (7-3) rolled to set wins of 25-3, 25-3 and 25-4 in the opener over Lyndon (0-10), finishing with 33 kills and three errors.
Senior
Ila Smith paced the Mariners with a game-high eight kills, while junior
Ally Hadley and senior
Sophia Biggie each tallied five.
Senior
Hunnie Zuber-Stephens finished with a game-high 10 aces, while Biggie added seven and sophomore
Hannah Tate six. Zuber-Stephens also recorded a game-high 15 assists for a double-double. Hadley contributed nine assists.
In the finale, Maine Maritime picked up set wins of 25-5, 25-8 and 25-5.
Smith and Tate tied for a game-high seven kills, while freshman
Lauren Davis posted a career-high five. Zuber-Stephens tallied another 10-ace performance, while Hadley posted six and Davis added a career-high five.
Hadley paced the Mariners with 12 assists, while Tate had eight. Freshman
Ayla Altman and Zuber-Stephens tied for the team lead with five digs.
Maine Maritime travels to Williamstown, Massachusetts, on Saturday for a tri-match against Middlebury College and Williams College beginning at 4 p.m.
