Box Score CASTINE--After a three-game road swing, the Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse team enjoyed the comforts of home at Ritchie Field on Saturday with a 24-6 lopsided victory over SUNY-Delhi in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both squads. The Mariners improve to 4-4 on the season, while the Broncos fall to 4-3 overall.

Maine Maritime Highlights
  • Freshman Tobey Lappin erupted for career highs of nine goals, four assists and 13 points to lead student-athletes in all but helpers on the afternoon.
  • Senior Brendan Reddington pumped in season highs of four goals, game-high six assists and 10 points.
  • Sophomore Bryce Crowell won 16 of 31 face-off attempts and he had five ground balls, while also scoring three points (1g, 2a).
  • Senior Sam Nichol registered a hat trick and was joined by other teammates who also enjoyed a multi-point game: junior Trey Marcil with four (2g, 2a), sophomore Ryker Spear and freshman Ryan Dunstan with three (both 1g, 2a), sophomore Jaden Knight with two goals, and freshman Tristan Reinhold with a goal and an assist.
  • Sophomore Finnian O'Donnell led all student-athletes with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers, both career bests.
  • Classmate Andrew Noyes made nine saves over 45 minutes to earn the win, and junior Will Farrell had seven stops over the last 15.
SUNY-Delhi Highlights
  • Joseph Lazazzaro led the team with three points on two goals and an assist.
  • Chris Lazazzaro and Jagger Beachak both had two points on a goal and an assist.
  • Anthony Ferrato went 11-for-22 in the face-off "X" and had five ground balls.
How it Happened
  • Maine Maritime scored early and often by taking leads of 5-2 after the first quarter and 14-3 by halftime.
  • Nichol and Joseph Lazazzaro traded goals 2 minutes and 35 seconds apart to begin the game before Nichol scored again at the 10:49 mark to put MMA ahead to stay, 2-1.
  • Spear (8:03), Lappin (6:40) and Reddington (3:14) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners in the opening frame.
  • Maine Maritime blew the game open with nine tallies in the second quarter as Knight made it 6-2 at 11:20 to ignite a 7-0 run.
  • In the second half, MMA didn't make it any easier while outscoring Delhi 10-3.
  • The Mariners also dominated the boxscore statistics: 70-45 in shots, 45-22 shots on goal, 13-21 in turnovers, clears (21/22 to 16/21) and 40-31 ground balls.

  • Maine Maritime will be idle next week before returning to action on Tuesday, April 1, at Colby College in a non-conference match-up, which is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. face-off.
