LEXINGTON, Mass. — Junior
Hailey Blanchard finished just one assist shy of a triple-double as Maine Maritime Academy rolled to an 87–49 road victory over Lesley University on Friday evening in North Atlantic Conference play.
Maine Maritime (3–1, 3–0 NAC) wasted no time building an early lead, jumping ahead 27–10 after the first quarter. The Mariners added 16 points in the second to take a 43–24 advantage into halftime.
Lesley (2–8, 1–4 NAC) played MMA close in the third quarter, edging the frame 18–16, but the Mariners erupted for 26 points in the fourth while holding the Lynx to nine to seal the decisive win and remain unbeaten in conference action.
Blanchard turned in an all-around standout performance with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Senior
Evelyn Dagan paced all scorers with 18 points, adding nine rebounds and three assists.
Freshman
Aliyah Lambo contributed 12 points and four rebounds, while fellow freshman
Savannah Ferguson also reached double figures with 11 points. Freshman
Addison Ivery added nine points, four rebounds, and three assists, and senior
Sydney Loring chipped in seven points and seven boards.
Junior
Laney Lyle handed out five assists, sophomore
Morgan Clifford scored five points, and seniors
Jacquelin Castro and
Grace Huntwork added seven and five points, respectively.
The Mariners shot an efficient 48.6 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from three, while limiting the Lynx to 32.7 percent shooting overall and 25 percent from beyond the arc.
Maine Maritime returns to action Saturday evening with a 5 p.m. road matchup at Thomas College.
