BEVERLY, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy football team returned to the gridiron on Saturday, falling to No. 14 Endicott College, 69-7, on the road.
Endicott (7-1, 5-0 CNE) jumped out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter and carried a 48-0 advantage into halftime. The Gulls extended their lead with another score to open the second half before Maine Maritime (0-8, 0-5 CNE) got on the board with a 31-yard touchdown run from sophomore
Auston Harris.
Endicott added two more touchdowns in the closing quarters to seal the 69-7 victory.
Harris finished with 87 rushing yards on 26 carries to pace the Mariners' offense. Sophomore
Lucas Houghton led the defense with a team-high seven tackles. Sophomore
Matt Gagin recorded an interception, a tackle for loss, and five total stops, while sophomore Daryl Hooper Jr. added five tackles.
The Mariners return home next Saturday to host Western New England University. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
