Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Smith College out-rebounded and out-shot Maine Maritime Academy from three-point range to pick up a 61-46 win on their home floor in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Friday night.
Smith (26-3) collected 42 rebounds compared to the Mariners (23-5) 27 and then shot six-of-18 from beyond the arc. Maine Maritime was only two-for-12 on the night and 19-of-54 from the field in the contest. The Pioneers were 24-of-57.

Erianna Moore and the Pioneers Ally Yamada each scored 17 to lead all scorers Hannah Martin and Sofia Rosa contributed 13 and 10 points respectively for the Pioneers, while
Maria Barela and
Sydney Briscoe both scored 10 for the Mariners. Briscoe's nine rebounds tied the Pioneers Jane Loo and Jessie Ruffner for the game high.
Smith played 37:39 of the game with the lead.
Smith advanced to the round of 32 where the Pioneers will face Messiah College. Messiah advanced on the strength of a 58-57 win over Shenandoah at Smith Friday evening. The loss concludes the season for Maine Maritime Academy. It is the eighth season that Maine Maritime has posted 20 or more wins through the 29 seasons now on the books.
