NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Maine Maritime Academy's women's swimming and diving team remains in second place among the 11 teams after the second day of competition at the Metropolitan Conference / North Atlantic Conference Championships. The Mariners trail Division II Felician University 870 to 509.5. The Mariners top the Division III teams in the field with Husson and Roberts Wesleyan in striking distance with 498 and 457 points respectively.

Sage Dentremont,
Claire MacDonald, and
Rayelle Brewer kicked off the day's competition placing fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.75. It was the top finish among the NAC teams competing with Husson coming in .4 seconds behind. Division II Felician posted a 1:49.79 for the first place points.
Kylie Cantlon accounted for fifth place points in the 400-yard individual medley. She logged a 5:24.66. Baruch's Kira Chen completed the race in 4:58.07 for the top spot on the medal stand.
Claire MacDonald and Meadow Huges scored 8
th and 15
th place points respectively in the 100-yard butterfly.
Brewer and
Eva Schulz scored in the 200-yard freestyle. Brewer finished fifth while Schulz finished in 14
th place.
Dentremont earned 12
th place points, while
Ava Snyder contributed 19
th place points in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Zhukov and
Natasha Kopeck placed seventh and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Mariners closed out Saturday's swimming with a fifth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Kopeck, MacDonald, Schulz, and Cantlon conspired for a 9:04.34. Felician ran away with the race posting a 7:56.91. Â
The Mariners will return to action on Sunday for the third and final day of the championship.
