BIDDEFORD, Maine – Senior
Benjamin Butterfield (Phillips, Maine) claimed individual medalist honors and men's cross country placed second overall at the 2022 Ron Ouellette Invitational hosted by the University of New England on Saturday morning.
How it Happened: Butterfield ran an impressive 27:55.6 on the 8k course to claim the top overall spot. Sophomore
Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) put together a top-five finish, placing fourth overall, with a time of 28:09.9.
Freshman
Cooper Parlee (Brewer, Maine) placed 12th overall, with a time of 29:30.5. Senior
John Hassett (Castine, Maine) finished 23rd overall, with a time of 30:05.6, while senior
William Procko (Branford, Fla.) rounded out the Mariners' top-five finishers, placing 45th, with a time of 31:37.7.
Inside the Numbers: Endicott College claimed first place overall with a team score of 54 and a total time of 2:25:11, Maine Maritime placed second with a team score of 81 and total time of 2:27:19, and the University of New England placed third with a team score of 98 and a total time of 2:29:23. Butterfield claimed first place, while Gordon's Zachary Smith placed second with a time of 28:00.9, and Endicott's Connor Coffin placed third with a time of 28:06.1.
