Mariners Place 15th at 2022 NCAA Regional Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's cross country placed 15th out of 33 at the 2022 NCAA DIII East Regional Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened: Senior
Benjamin Butterfield (Phillips, Maine) paced the Mariners, finishing 54th in the 233-runner field, with a time of 27:37.7 on the 8k course, while senior John Hassett (Castine, Maine) finished 72nd, with a time of 28:11.7.

Sophomore
Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) finished 91st, with a time of 28:43.8. Senior William Procko (Branford, Fla.) finished 117th, with a time of 29:18.4 and first-year Cooper Parlee (Brewer, Maine) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Mariners, placing 132nd, with a time of 29:52.8.

Inside the Numbers: MIT finished first with a team score of 21 and total time of 2:07:22, Bates College placed second with a team score of 72 and total time of 2:08:55, and Colby College finished third with a team score of 82 and total time of 2:09:25. Colby's Tyler Morris was the top medalist finishing with a time of 24:55.6, MIT's Andrew Mah and Sam Acquaviva finished second and third respectively, with times of 25:25.6 each.
