Maine Maritime's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to UMaine-Presque Isle 70-62 last Saturday afternoon, inside of Wieden Gymnasium.
The Mariners fought back from a nine-point deficit midway through the first half to hold a narrow 31-30 lead at halftime.
Maine Maritime came out strong in the second half and took a 40-30 lead but the Owls used a 20-point run to build a 50-40 lead with 10:59 remaining. The Mariners battled back and closed the gap to three (65-62) with just under a minute to play, but the Owls (1-3) hung on for the win.
Riley Jorgenson and Cameron Gerlach (Hendersonville, Tenn.) led the Mariners with 16 points each, Gerlach also chipped in with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal while Jorgenson contributed three steals and a pair of rebounds. Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds an assist and a steal.
Akhe McMichael led the Owls with a game-high 26 points and added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Gilbert Jean tallied 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Kj Minter added 10 points, nine rebounds and a steal.
The Mariners shot 46.3 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from three, while the Owls shot 42.6 percent overall and 47.6 percent from beyond the arc. UMaine-Presque Isle held a 37-29 advantage in rebounds.

Thomas College's Last Game: The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to Husson 96-60 in their season opener last Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles scored seven unanswered in the first two and a half minutes, but Thomas chipped away to narrow the lead to 14-11 with 13:02 left in the first half. Husson went on a 14-3 run over the next five minutes to extend their lead up to 28-14. The Eagles held the Terriers off through the remainder of the period to take a 45-28 lead into the break.
Husson pushed their lead up to 30 by the midway point of the second, thanks to a 24-11 run to start the second half. The Eagles kept their distance, extending the lead to as much as 40, before taking the 96-60 win.
Demetris Webster led Thomas with 17 points, while Alec Byron chipped in 13 points. Lokiron Anda led the team with eight rebounds and added 10 points.
