UCU Meet Notes: Swimming & Diving Set to Face Nor'easters Virtually

The Meet: Maine Maritime swimming & diving will compete on Friday evening at 5:00 pm, inside of Bok Pool. The University of New England will race on Saturday afternoon. Once both teams complete their events, the official meet times will be announced on Saturday.

Maine Maritime vs. UNE: This is the second time the two schools will face off this season. The Mariners and Nor'easters competed against each other last week in the double dual virtual meet with Husson. See last week's times HERE.                                                                                                           

Maine Maritime's Last Meet:

Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming & diving swept Husson University (123-122) and the University of New England (164-36) in a virtual double dual meet.

  • The relay team of Cameron Sprott (Hampton, Va.), Liam Naturale (Dingman's Ferry, Pa.), John Markillie (Richland, Wash.) and Jace Chouinard (North Fort Myers, Fla.) took first in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:45.63
  • Chouinard took the top spot in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 28.20 (SCHOOL RECORD)
  • Naturale finished first in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 30.51
  • Sprott claimed the top spot in the 100 yard butterfly with a time for 56.81 (POOL RECORD), followed closely by Markillie in second (57.90)
  • Chouinard finished first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.78 (POOL RECORD), followed by teammate Patrick McEneaney (Suffolk, Va.) in second, with a time of 52.75
  • Sprott took first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.72 (POOL RECORD), while teammate John Gilpin (Portsmouth, R.I.) took second with a time of 1:05.42
  • Chouinard capped off his impressive collegiate debut for the Mariners, taking first in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 25.68

The women's swimming & diving team fell to Husson University (170.50-64.50) and the University of New England (130-107).

  • Megan Durrua (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) took the top spot in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.65 (SCHOOL/POOL RECORD) and the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:10.01 (SCHOOL RECORD). Durrua placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.45 (SCHOOL/POOL RECORD)
  • Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) took second in the 500 yard freestyle (6:15.49)
