Series History: The Eagles hold a 42-3 all-time advantage over the Mariners, and a 18-2 record when hosting Maine Maritime. The two teams split last season's meetings, with the Mariners taking the first matchup on January 17, 2020 (69-63) in Castine, but falling 75-49 on February 18, 2020 in Bangor.

Last Meeting: Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Husson University 75-49 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Newman Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

With the loss the Mariners end their season at 4-21 overall and 2-12 in the NAC, while the Eagles await their NAC postseason fate with an 11-14 overall record and a 8-6 record in conference play.

The Eagles jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first half, and held the Mariners to just 16 first half points to claim the victory.

Nicholas DePatsy led the Mariners with 10 points, two rebounds and two steals, while Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.) contributed nine points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block and Riley MacLeod also added nine points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Bruce St. Peter and Brett Cunningham led the Eagles with 13 points each, St. Peter added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Cunningham contributed five rebounds and three assists. Derek Collin and DJ Bussey tallied 12 points apiece, Collin added seven rebounds and three steals and Bussey secured a double-double with 11 rebounds and three assists.

The Mariners shot 32.1 percent from the floor and 26.9 percent from three-point land, while the Eagles shot 44.4 percent overall and 33.3 percent from three. The Eagles held a 46-28 advantage in rebounds.

Maine Maritime's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball defeated Thomas College 76-64, last Saturday afternoon inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The Mariners outscored the Terriers 12-3 to start the game and carried that momentum throughout the first half, taking a 45-24 advantage into halftime.

Thomas (0-2) came out strong in the second half, outscoring Maine Maritime 12-4 in the opening minutes, to cut the deficit to 49-36 at 14:29. The Mariners responded with 12-unanswered points and took a 59-36 lead with 11:22 to go, on their way to the victory.

Riley Jorgenson led the Mariners with a team-high 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block, while Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) added 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals and Caden Mattson (Blue Hill, Maine) chipped in with 11 points, a rebound and a steal, off the bench. Cameron Gerlach (Hendersonville, Tenn.) added 10 points, a game-high eight assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Demetris Webster led Thomas with a game-high 35 points to go along with five assists, four steals and two rebounds and Matthew Hadnot tallied a double-double with 11 rebounds, 10 points, two steals, one assist and one block.

Maine Maritime shot 54.9 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc, while Thomas shot 33.3 percent overall and 22.9 percent from three. The Mariners held a 42-31 advantage in rebounds.

The Mariners: After three games, the Mariners average 64.7 points, 36.0 rebounds and 11.7 assists per game, while shooting 44.5 percent from the floor, 35.5 percent from three and 59.1 percent from the line.

Riley Jorgenson leads the team with 16.7 points and 3.3 steals per game, while teammate Malachi Reincke averages 16.3 points per game and a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game, and first-year Cameron Gerlach averages 11.0 points per game, while leading the team with 5.0 assists per game.

Husson University's Last Game: The Husson University men's basketball team defeated the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF), 86-69, last Saturday afternoon.

DJ Bussey scored a game-high 20 points, while adding six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Justice Kendall tallied 16 points, two steals, an assist and two rebounds.

The Eagles: After six games the Eagles average 94.7 points, 51.7 rebounds and 14.5 assist per game, while shooting 45.8 percent from the floor, 34.0 percent from three and 60.3 percent from the line.

DJ Bussey leads the Eagles with 18.3 points per game, while Scott Lewis averages 12.2 points per game and leads the team with 7.7 rebounds and 1.0 block per game. Justice Kendall averages a team-high 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
