NORTON, Mass. – Maine Maritime women's basketball beat St. Joseph's College (Conn.) 86-56 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at the Wheaton College Tip-Off Classic.

How it Happened: After settling into the game, the Mariners went on a seven-point run, fueled by a jumper made by Sydney Echevarria-Briscoe (Englewood, N.J.), to close out the first quarter 18-10. The Blue Jays fought back in the second quarter to cut the Mariner led to down to four, but the Mariners went on an eight-point run, extending their lead to 45-24 going into the half.

The Blue Jays continued to fight back into the game, until the Mariners went on a commanding 16-4 point run early in the fourth quarter and never looked back to claim a 86-56 victory.

Inside the Numbers: Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate double-double with game-highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds, along with four assists and one block. Makenzie Monzon (Orlando, Fla.) chipped in 15 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Maria Barela (Albuquerque, N.M.) came off the bench to net 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal, while Lauren Cook (Charlotte, Maine) added 13 points to the mix in addition to a steal and an assist.

Amanda Fudge led the Blue Jays with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Jordan Ouellette chipped in eight points along with three rebounds and one steal.

Maine Maritime shot 51.6% from the floor and 34.8% from beyond the arc, while the Blue Jays shot 30.3% from the field and 5.6% from three point land.
