CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to Husson University 11-3, on Tuesday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Ritchie Field.

The Eagles scored seven-unanswered goals before Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) put the Mariners on the board with a free position goal with 14 seconds to play in the first half.

Husson added four goals in the beginning of the second half to take an 11-1 lead, but the Mariners continued to battle as both Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) and Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) added free position goals in the final 12 minutes of play to cut the final deficit to 11-3.

Mariah Carrier led the Eagles with four goals, Mattie Russell chipped in with a hat trick and an assist, and Amanda Deshaies scored a pair of goals for Husson. Both Deshaies and Serian Williams led the Eagles with four caused turnovers, Deshaies scooped up a team-leading seven ground balls and Megan Bataran added a goal, two assists and a game-high five draw controls.

In net, Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) recorded 12 saves in the loss for the Mariners, while scooping up a game-high eight ground balls, and Husson's Kaitlin Dolloff tallied 10 saves, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers in the victory.

The Mariners fall to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the conference, while the Eagles improve to 6-6 on the season and 4-5 in the NAC.

Making their first post-season appearance in the program's history, the Mariners claimed the sixth seed and will travel to No. 3 UMaine-Farmington on Friday, April 28 for a quarterfinal matchup.
