CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell 9-3 to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action on Ritchie Field.

Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) put the Mariners on the board at 29:14, but the Dolphins responded with four-unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead. Obshatkin found the back of the net again this time on a free-position shot, to cut the deficit to two goals. Mount Saint Vincent went on a four-goal run to take an 8-2 lead early in the second half. Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) added a free-position goal for the Mariners with 24:45 to play making it 8-3 but the Dolphins added one more goal late in the second half to claim the 9-3 victory.

Obshatkin led the Mariners with two goals, two ground balls and two draw controls, Ashlee Knight (Anson, Maine) chipped in with an assist and a caused turnover and Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) scooped up a team-high three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Alicia Forgione and Shannon Dalton both tallied hat tricks to lead the Dolphins, Georgiana Trizano added a pair of goals and Paulina Mandujano tallied the other goal. Lauren Tate led all players with four ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers and Forgione tallied five draw controls.

Maine Maritime's Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) tallied six saves in net in the loss, while Gabriella Marinese stopped eight shots in net, in the victory for the Dolphins.

The Mariners fall to 2-2 overall, while the Dolphins improve to 1-5 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, April 1 when they travel to Johnson State College for a 3:30 pm North Atlantic Conference matchup.
