FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime's Zachary Kinsman (Lebanon, N.H.) placed 42nd among the 147 runners competing at the State of Maine Championships at Maine-Farmington on Saturday. The Mariners' freshman led the squad to an eighth place finish among the 11 teams competing.
Bates College captured the team title behind the efforts of John Stansel, who ran the eight-kilometer course in 26:22.
Kinsman averaged a 5:44 mile for a 28:27. He was the first Maine Maritime runner to cross for the sixth time this season. Chase Hughes (Yarmouth, Maine) finished in 82nd place, followed by Wyatt LaPage (Portsmouth, N.H.) in 84th with respective times of 30:37 and 30:44.
Spencer Boonstra (Amston, Conn.), Chase Reidelbach (Virginia Beach, Va.), and Victor Skorapa (Freeport, Maine) were close in tow with respective times of 31:15 for 90th, 31:24 for 92nd, and 31:30 for 95th. Paul Ferreira (Castine, Maine) rounded out Maine Maritime's scoring contingent with a 32:24, good for 108th place.
Maine Maritime returns to action in two weeks at the North Atlantic Conference Championships at Castleton State.
