BANGOR, Maine -- Maine Maritime men's cross country team placed two runners in the top 10, and five more in the top 30, to secure a second place finish in the five-team Husson Invitational Saturday at Saxl Park in Bangor.
Southern Maine took the top spot in the team race, led by first place finisher Brian Beebee (28:08), Thomas finished third, Maine-Farmington fourth and Husson fifth.
Mariners senior Matt Methot placed second out of 77 runners. He ran the 8K course in 28:31.05. George Morrison was sixth in 29:54.67. Methot and Morrison were two of only six runners to complete the race in under 30 minutes.
Vijay Kataria (30:29.70) placed 11th , Victor Skorapa (31:59.92) was 20th and Chase Reidelbach (32:29.75) was 25th. Freshmen Spencer Boonstra (33:00.64) and Chase Hughes (33:06.40) finished 28th and 29th, respectively, giving the Mariners four freshman -- including Skorapa and Reidelbach -- to finish in the top 30.
The Mariners return to action Saturday at the Southern Maine Invitational.
