PORTLAND, Maine -- Maine Maritime's Matt Methot placed 16th, in a field of 284, at the Southern Maine Invitational Saturday. The Mariners finished 15th out of 19 teams, including three teams in the national top 30.
Methot navigated the 5-mile course in 26:09.59. Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz won the event with 25:11.51.
Vijay Kataria placed 108 with a personal-best 27:49.72. George Morrison was 130 with 28:13.66, Chase Reidelbach finished in 30:05.54, Victor Skorapa crossed at 30:28.95 and Wyatt LaPage in 30:44.71.
MIT, ranked 28th in the country, claimed the team title with five runners in the top 13. Seventh-ranked Bates was second and fifth-ranked Bowdoin took third.
The Mariners return to action Saturday at the Bowdoin Invitational.
