BUCKSPORT, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's men's cross country team won its own event for the fifth consecutive year, topping Thomas College at Bucksport High School. Matt Methot (Portland, Maine) won the three-miler, which served as a final tune-up before next weekend's North Atlantic Conference Championships.

Methot covered the course in 16:16 to top the field of 32 runners, primarily from Maine Maritime and Thomas. Eastern Maine Community College had a handful of individual entrants. The Mariners accounted for six runners in the top eight finishers. Vijay Kataria (Grassy Creek, N.C.) took second place for Maine Maritime in 16:23, a second ahead of Thomas' top runner, freshman Nick Kopf (Hampden, Maine). 

Mariners' first-year runner, George Morrison (Limerick, Maine) crossed third for MMA and fourth overall in 16:49, followed by the Terriers' William Janakis (S. Berwick, Maine) at 17:06. Chase Reidelbach (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Wyatt LaPage (Portsmouth, N.H.) posted respective times of 17:10 and 17:12 to wrap up the Mariners' scoring.

Evan Boudreau (Lamoine, Maine) and Dylan McNally (Moose River, Maine) finished ninth and tenth, respectively, for Thomas. Boudreau clocked a 17:32, while McNally logged 17:40. Aaron Maclean (Fairfield, Maine) was the fifth runner to cross for Thomas and 13th runner to finish overall.

Both Maine Maritime and Thomas return to action next weekend at the NAC Championships. Thomas will host the race in Waterville.
