WATERVILLE, Maine -- Maine Maritime finished fifth at the State of Maine Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday at Colby College. Matt Methot highlighted the Mariners day with an eighth place finish.
Methot finished the five-mile course in 26:56.70. He was 54 seconds off of Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz, who led the field of 143 with 26;02.20.
Bowdoin, ranked No. 25 in Division III, placed two runners in the top five to win the the 10-team field. No. 33 Colby was second with four top ten finishers and No. 12 Bates placed third with three top ten finishers. Southern Maine finished ahead of the Mariners, while St. Joseph's, Maine-Farmington, Thomas, Husson and Maine-Presque Isle finished behind Maine Maritime.
Vijay Kataria placed 60th in 29:46.80 and George Morrison was 66th in 30:02.30. Chase Reidelbach (30:48.40), Cameron Roy (31:00) and Wyatt Lapage (31:32.40) rounded the Maine Maritime's top five.
The Mariners host the Mariner Invitational Saturday, 11 a.m., at Bucksport High School.
