UNITY, Maine – Cameron Roy (Orrington, Maine) raced to a tenth place finish with a time of 30:53 to lead Maine Maritime Academy to a second place finish at the five-team, Unity College Invitational on Saturday. Colby placed seven runners in the top ten to take first place.
The Mariners placed its top-five runners all inside of the top 20 to secure the second-place finish. Jurgen Pilot (Bangor, Maine) and Wyatt LaPage (Portsmouth, N.H.) finished 12th and 13th, respectively. Pilot ran a 31:18 with LaPage 18 seconds behind.
Foster Blake (Gorham, Maine) and Noel Desserrs-Gauthier (Dover, N.H.) finished in 16th and 17th places. Blake finished in 32:08, while Desserrs-Gauthier crossed in 32:21.
Unity's Taylor Noble set the meet's pace, posting a 28:38 on his home course. That left him with a 38 second cushion on the field of 44, including Mules' Will Supple in second place. Unity's Evan Glaude finished third in 29:51, but the next six spots belonged to Colby.
The Mariners return to action next weekend at the Bowdoin College Invitational.
